With two kids and a busy schedule, I don’t always have time to wear a full-face of makeup anymore. Sigh. Sometimes I opt to go makeup-free, but on most days, I do prefer to even out my skin and cover signs of fatigue and sleep-deprivation! These are the base products I have been reaching out for and loving.
For nursery runs, I usually reach out for the Erborian CC Creme or Shiseido WASO Color Smart Day Moisturizer. I usually have only 15 minutes for myself before I rush out to drop my kids off at nursery, and I only allot 5 of that for makeup application – tops! Although these two products technically include moisturizer and SPF, I still do apply my normal skincare products before using them. I feel I cannot rely on the moisturizing and sun-protecting abilities of 2 and 3-in-1 products, so I always feel better wearing them after I go through my morning skincare regimen. A lot of people complain that the Erborian CC Creme tends to turn orange on the skin, but I avoid that by making sure I apply it with clean fingers. The Shiseido Moisturizer tends to make my skin look a bit cooler than it is, but it’s nothing I can’t live with, especially for quick and everyday makeup.
I loathe the look of a mask-like face, and prefer my skin to be still visible when I do wear foundation. For that, I opt for light coverage foundations like the Orlane Teint Absolu Treatment Foundation, the Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation (reviewed here) and the Surratt Beauty Surreal Skin Foundation Wand (reviewed here). With it’s deep yellow undertones, the Orlane Teint Absolu in #12 is a perfect color match for my olive skin most days of the year. Combined with the right products to enhance its longevity, I can wear this even on the hottest Dubai summer days.
For events, dinner dates and days I want to look my best, I reach out for my Becca Ever-Matte Shine Proof Foundation (reviewed here) or the La Mer The Soft Fluid Longwear Foundation. Both products provide buildable coverage, are long-lasting and make me look and feel put together! Although the Becca foundation was an all-time favorite for years, the La Mer foundation has quickly replaced it! It leaves the skin looking very radiant and soft, without it being oily. However, apart from its steep price tag, I hate the fact that I couldn’t find a perfect match for my skin; I was able to remedy that perfectly though and I will share my secret with you all soon!
