My August favorites mainly revolve around a combination of base products and a new collection of liquid lipsticks. Because getting the perfect base in Dubai summer heat is a challenge, I made it my mission to see what concoction of products stays put on my combination to oily skin during high-humidity season.
I have been recently loving 3 different foundations; the Elcie Cosmetics Foundation, the Becca Ever-Matte Shine-Proof Foundation and the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint. The latter two are more matte and long-lasting, but the Elcie Foundation looks SO natural when worn, I can’t help but reach out for it too. To counter any possible patchiness and to give my skin that glow-from-within feel when using matte foundations, I have been loving the Niod Photography Fluid Opacity 12% and the Becca Backlight Priming Filter. They impart just the right amount of radiance and everyone seems to notice when I use them; I constantly get complemented on how nice my skin looks! On the other hand, I like to pair the Elcie Foundation with the Makeup Forever Step 1 Mattifying Primer. I know I have previously voiced my opinion on primers but this one is really different from any of the ones I have tried before, and the key to use it is in its application. Only the tiniest pea-sized amount is needed, and it has to be warmed up by rubbing it between the fingers, before it is applied solely to the oily parts of the face. Over-application, or failure to warm up the product, will cause the primer to ‘ball-up’ on the skin.
No matter what base products I’m using though, I seem to always reach out for my Chanel Tan de Soleil Bronzer to use as a base for my powder bronzer of choice for the day. It imparts the ‘healthiest’ warmth to the skin, blends like a dream and stays put all day!
Moving on to the lips, the newly launched Huda Beauty Liquid Mattes have become fast favorites. I will be reviewing them shortly, but let’s just say they are definitely a staple!
