Gucci Sensuous Deep-Matte Lipsticks Review

For those of you who regularly follow my blog, you know by now how strong my love affair with Gucci cosmetics is. For all the newbies, you can read all about it here and here, and throughout numerous posts all over the blog. This post is purely dedicated to the brand’s new line, the Sensuous Deep-Matte Lipsticks, which i discovered recently when I had the chance to meet Gucci’s Celebrity Makeup Artist Aaron Smith Henrikson, again. I was completely blown away by the lip color he applied on me and knew I had to have it in my arsenal. Lo and behold, I left Sephora with FIVE different shades and a dent in my wallet.

Undeniably gorgeous to look at, the lipsticks are quite the luxurious commodity, but are they true to their name? They are definitely matte, but not in an uncomfortable way. They glide on the lips very easily but have no sheen to their finish. As with all matte lipsticks, or all lipsticks in general, I like to prep my lips before applying them. I have been heavily relying on Orlane’s Extreme Line Reducing Lip Care, an old favorite, to make sure my lips are soft and ready for any lipstick formula, especially the matte ones.  I found that applying them over a lip liner gives me the opaque color payoff that I like, and definitely enhances their longevity. As to not affect their color, I like to use a colorless lip liner (my favorites are from Dior and Makeup Forever).

In brief, Gucci does not disappoint. Below are close-ups of the shades I chose. Enjoy 🙂
