Summer heat is unbearable, especially in the Gulf region, and the first thing that pops to mind as the scorching rays approach is ‘how to make foundation/makeup last longer?’. I bet this is the question every makeup-lover living in such hot and humid climates asks herself at some point. So to say summer makeup is a challenge would be an understatement, but I think I have finally figured out a ‘recipe’, so to speak, to combat the makeup-meltdown as much as possible.
For one, I always make sure to use the SKII Facial Treatment Essence while prepping my skin. It definitely helps balance skin with daily use. Then comes the star of the recipe, the Oil Free Matte from Dermalogica. It is exactly what its name implies, it dries fast and it acts like a primer, keeping the face shine free and the makeup in place for a really long time. The one complaint I have? The packaging. I can’t even begin to count the number of times the nozzle burst out as I was squeezing the tube to dispense some product. After countless splatters and a lot of product waste, I turned to decanting the sunscreen into a small squeezable tube from Daiso (see below). After I apply my sunscreen, I reach out for a light foundation like the Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet, the YSL Fusion Ink Foundation, or my favorite powder foundation, the Chanel Vitalumiere Loose Powder. I then make sure I blend everything with my Beauty Blender. Blending is a seriously underestimated step. It pushes foundation into the skin, locking it in place. The final step of my makeup application is 3-4 spritzes of the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray.
When worn with the help of these products, my makeup doesn’t budge. I might, however, notice some oiliness creeping up and for that I swear by blotting papers! The Sterikare Oil Control Film in the picture is from one of my Glam Box packages and I’m seriously loving it. I need to find out where I can purchase it from!
That’s my secret recipe to long-lasting summer makeup. What’s yours?
