Of Correctors and Concealers – Spots & Discoloration

Covering spots and discoloration requires the use of different products than when covering under-eye darkness. They tend to be of thicker and more cream-like consistencies. Here is a round up of my favorite products (clockwise starting from the top):

Concealers - Spots_s

1 – The Cle de Peau Beaute Concealer reviewed here.

2 – The Bobbi Brown Face Touch Up Stick is great for everyday use and travel friendly. Just a small dab over any spots or areas of discoloration is sufficient to cover up, and a light tap of the ring finger will do to blend. The added benefits of this in comparison with other products is its extensive range of shades and its compact size. However, it is not made to be used under the eyes.

3 – I was recommended the MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer in NC35 by a MAC sales lady to use for my under-eye circles – this product is too thick for the under-eye area but does a wonderful job at concealing redness and blemishes anywhere else on the face. It is a tad too dark for my face right now so I might need to purchase another in NC30.

4 – Vichy NormaDerm Drying and Concealing Anti-Imperfection Stick is great for covering active spots as it has ingredient to help heal them. It only comes in one color, so it’s better used under powder. It might need to be reapplied on long days but it fits discreetly in any makeup bag.

5 – Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-4 come with two colors that can be used separately or mixed together for a better color match. Only a small amount is needed to cover spots as it is quite dense. I find it works better when it is warmed on the hand before applied on the face.
